Crossdressers Lingerie Guide: Fit, Comfort & Confidence

Purchasing the first few pieces of crossdressers lingerie is such an exciting experience but it can also be a daunting one! There are so many choices of colour, style and material, not to mention the differences between men’s and women’s sizes! There are various different reasons why men crossdress, and here at Tiffany Hart we are devoted to offering our customers beautiful and good quality lingerie for crossdressers. We believe that part of that experience is offering you a guide to choosing pieces that are perfect for you.

The Tiffany Hart guide to crossdressers lingerie for crossdressers

New to lingerie and want a calm, step-by-step overview? Try Crossdressed UK’s lingerie for crossdressers guide (fit, fabrics, and confidence tips).

Bras

Bra sizing can definitely be difficult even for the ladies, but if you don’t have breasts then the process is simplified. Bra sizing works in a system of band size and cup size, but if you don’t have breasts then you only need to determine your band size by measuring the circumference of your chest. There are many charts online to help you work out what your circumference equates to as a band size. You should also be aware that different brands may vary their size charts massively, so consult each brand’s size chart before making any purchases. Check out our full Bra measuring guide for crossdressers here.

Your cup size represents the difference between your band size and bust size. If you are choosing to use breastforms, you should measure them and find out the circumference of your chest over them. If you aren’t using breastforms, you can choose your cup size. A longline bra is perfect as there is very little movement and the full cups will secure any breast enhancements used.

Panties

You can buy ladies panties in a wide variety of styles, such as thongs, full knickers or briefs. It is important to remember that the majority of women’s styles are designed to accommodate slightly larger hips and thighs and aren’t designed to accommodate for male genitals. The best option for cross-dressers is generally something with a little stretch and more coverage to prevent them from slipping off your hips and to contain your genitals comfortably.

When purchasing women’s underwear, you may have to be particularly selective about which styles will work for you as a cross-dresser, or you can choose to buy specialty underwear that is designed with you in mind.

For example, at Tiffany Hart we offer a wide range of panties, from high-waisted ‘full’ or French Knickers (both of which are a great addition to a crossdressers lingerie drawer), to sexy lace varieties. We are sure you will find something that you love!

Stockings

What else can make you feel as feminine as a good pair of stockings? You can get stockings that are clipped to a suspender belt to hold them up or, a simpler version, hold up stockings which do not require any clipping or fastening, but are held up with silicon bands. Normally you only need your height and rough weight to ensure you are purchasing the right size stockings, and most styles come in S, M, L or even XL. Some can be ‘one size fits all’ (which is fine if you are of ‘average’ height and build), but you may find they often don’t some up high enough and will ‘tug’ on a suspender belt. This you want to avoid, especially if you have slim hips.

Stockings are perfect for giving you a sexy, feminine feeling, and they can be as neutral and pared back or as bold and courageous as you want! Stockings are most certainly a necessary addition to your wardrobe for any occasion.

“Want a broader fit-and-feel checklist before you buy? See the stockings and suspenders guide.

Suspender Belts

Now we have discussed stockings, we must talk about suspender belts. These practical and stunning pieces of crossdressers lingerie are also essential in the wardrobe of any crossdresser. These pieces are beautifully decorative and the foundation of any lingerie set. Suspenders are great in a practical sense, as they hold up your stockings, but they also create a stunning silhouette and allow your feminine features to truly shine.

Most good suspender belts have 6 straps, but you can also get ones with 4, 8, 10 and even 12 straps for maximum hold. Whilst you can purchase suspender belts with plastic clips, metal clips are better because they are much stronger and allow for a firmer grip, meaning you don’t have to worry about constantly readjusting your stockings.

It is also advisable to go for one that sits firmly on the waist (rather than the skimpy ‘fashion’ belts) as these will stay in place and not slide down once stockings are attached. Choosing the right size is extremely important to avoid movement and slipping. Items of crossdressers lingerie such as a suspender belt should always be bought by waist measurement, not S,M,L etc. These sizes can differ greatly between manufacturers so a Small from one shop or supplier may be a couple of inches smaller or larger than a Small from another. All products on our website give waist measurements in inches and cm and this is what you should check before purchase.

Girdles (Shapewear for Crossdressers)

longline girdle, perfect lingerie for crossdressers

Girdles are an incredibly popular type of shapewear for crossdressers, primarily because of the stunning hourglass figure they give you. Wearing a girdle will eliminate 1-3 inches from your waistline and will allow you to show off your feminine self in its true form. Many girdles also come with matching suspenders so you can have a complete and cohesive look.

Tiffany Hart has many varieties of girdles, including waist clinchers for a super sleek look, to crotchless panty girdles for when you’re in the mood for seduction, there is a girdle for every occasion!

There really is no need for it to be a daunting experience when you purchase lingerie for crossdressers; we want you to love the experience almost as much as you love actually wearing it! Following this guide to crossdressers lingerie should eliminate any confusion you have about buying lingerie for the purposes of crossdressing, making the whole process far easier and allowing you much more excitement and anticipation.

“For smoothing and comfort under clothes, here’s a practical take on shapewear for crossdressers.

FAQ: Crossdressers Lingerie Guide

How do I choose the right bra size as a crossdresser?

Start with your underbust measurement (around your ribcage) for the band size, then measure over the fullest part of your chest for the cup. If you wear breast forms, measure while wearing them. Many find vintage-style bullet bras and longline bras more forgiving for fit.

What lingerie styles suit an AMAB body best?

Look for stretch lace, adjustable straps, and wider bands that contour comfortably. Longline bras, corselettes, and high-waist girdles help smooth the torso while keeping that classic retro silhouette.

Can I wear women’s lingerie every day?

Absolutely, comfort is key. Choose breathable fabrics like nylon or satin blends, and avoid overly tight shapewear for long hours. Many of our customers wear stockings and suspenders daily for that subtle confidence boost.

How should I wash delicate lingerie?

Hand-wash with mild detergent in cool water and let air-dry. Vintage and lace pieces deserve gentle care, a lingerie wash bag helps protect them in the machine.

Where can I find lingerie for crossdressers?

Right here at Tiffany Hart. Our curated collection includes bullet bras, corselettes, girdles, and vintage-inspired stockings designed to fit and flatter AMAB bodies with elegance and authenticity.

man wearing stockings and a garter / suspender belt

Stockings and suspender belts are not purely for crossdressers, many men just enjoy the sensual feeling of wearing a garter belt and stockings under their male clothes.

Garter belts can now be found in many men’s ‘lingerie drawers’, for some, they’re a practical solution for keeping traditional or compression stockings in place, for others the suspender belt represents their feminine side, personal stimulation, or cross-dressing / gender expression.

Recently, traditional ‘gender norms’ have continued to dissolve, making room for more self-expression and inclusivity. One area of this sartorial evolution is the increasing popularity of stockings and suspenders for men.

Ultimately, the rising interest in stockings and garter belts among men reflects a broader cultural shift: clothing is for everyone, regardless of gender.

At Tiffany Hart, we understand that men have a feminine side and many like to wear lace panties, frilly knickers, tights or a garter belt and stockings – whether for work underneath a suit, at home when relaxing, or even out on a date. We offer a wide range of ‘solid’ (as opposed to flimsy ‘boudoir’ types) suspender belts with a choice of 6-12 straps and always with waist size adjustment. Some men like the ‘restrictive’ feeling of a deep garter belt and may prefer our range of corselettes or girdles.

How to Wear Stockings and Suspenders for Men

Here’s a simple guide on how to wear stockings and garter belts (suspender belts) for men and sizing basics:

Choose the Right Fit & Style:

  • Before you start looking, accurately measure your waist
  • Choose a belt with hook/eye size settings & adjustable straps
  • Deep sides and/or a wide waistband will ensure comfort and a secure fit
  • Consider the amount of straps  you want.   A minimum of 6 straps are advised belts for a firmer  hold — more straps mean less slipping
  • Choose a style with metal clips, plastic ones do not have the same solid grip
  • A wide suspender belt, panty-girdle or girdle with garters will help men achieve a more feminine shape if that is what you are looking to achieve.
  • If you’re new to wearing this type of lingerie, wear it around the house first to make sure you are  comfortable.
  • Find a style that feels right for you, the first one you try may not be suitable but don’t give up — whether masculine, feminine, or fluid.

How to Put your Suspender Belt on with Stockings:

  • Put the garter belt on first and secure around your waist so it’s tight enough to prevent being pulled down once stockings are attached

  • Before putting on, roll the stockings down to the toe (best done whilst wearing hosiery gloves), then slide over your foot.   Gently roll them them up your legs one at a time.
  • Attach the garters to the welt (the wide strip/band at the top) of the stockings — attaching the front clips first, then back.  You may find it easier to sit or put one leg up on a chair when attaching the back clips.
  • Adjust the length on all the straps so your stockings stay up without pulling or sagging.
  • Try walking around & sitting down to make sure everything is perfect before putting on your outer garments or leaving the house.
  • Now you’re all set to go!

Can Men wear Stockings and Suspenders (garter belts)?

Yes, men absolutely can wear stockings and suspender belts (also called garter belts in the US)  and many do, for a range of reasons that include comfort, fetish, gender expression, or simply personal preference.

Ultimately, the rising interest in stockings and suspender belts among men reflects a broader cultural shift: clothing is for everyone, regardless of gender. Female lingerie allows men to explore new facets of their identity with confidence and creativity and is often seen as sensual, regardless of gender.

Stockings for men are not entirely new. In fact, hosiery was once a staple of men’s wear in centuries past. Today, stockings are with stronger materials and wider thigh bands to ensure comfort. Men wear stockings for various reasons from practical uses, to the sleek sexy feeling they provide, or simply because they enjoy the way they look.

When choosing your stockings, it’s best to aim for those with sizing options, either Large, XL or bigger depending on your height/weight as men are generally taller than women.

Remember: Underwear is personal – there’s no wrong way to wear what you love so absolutely men can wear a suspender belt and stockings!

Crossdressing can have various implications on relationships, depending on the individuals involved, the psychology behind it, their level of understanding, communication, and acceptance. Here are some aspects to consider when it comes to crossdressing in relationships:

  1. Open communication: It’s essential to have honest and open conversations with your partner about your crossdressing interests, reasons for crossdressing, desires, and boundaries. Discuss your feelings, motivations, and any concerns either of you may have. Establishing a safe space for open dialogue fosters understanding and acceptance.
  2. Education and understanding: Crossdressing may be a new concept for your partner, so providing educational resources or sharing personal stories can help them better understand what it means to you. Encourage them to ask questions and express their feelings.
  3. Boundaries and consent: It’s crucial to establish clear boundaries that both partners are comfortable with regarding your crossdressing activities. Understand and respect each other’s comfort levels, and ensure that both partners are comfortable with the exploration of crossdressing within the relationship. Discussing when and where crossdressing is appropriate, as well as how it may or may not affect the couple’s public or private life, can help avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.
  4. Emotional support: Crossdressing can be an emotional experience for some individuals and having the emotional support of their partner can make a significant difference in their well-being. Support, reassurance, and validation can help strengthen the bond between you. Encourage your partner to express their emotions and concerns as well.
  5. Understanding Gender Identity: Crossdressing doesn’t necessarily indicate a particular gender identity. It’s crucial for both partners to educate themselves about gender identity, expression, and what crossdressing means to their partner personally.
  6. Shared experiences: Involving your partner in your cross-dressing activities can foster a sense of togetherness. You can explore shopping for clothing together, attend crossdressing events, or participate in creative activities that allow both of you to express yourselves.
  7. Positive Reinforcement: Encouragement and positive reinforcement from the non-crossdressing partner can help build trust and a stronger bond between the couple.
  8. Patience and Empathy: Both partners may need time to adjust to the idea of crossdressing within the relationship. Patience and empathy are vital during this process, as each person may have their own concerns and feelings to process.
  9. Privacy and Confidentiality: For some crossdressers, privacy and confidentiality are essential aspects of their expression. Respecting their wishes and ensuring their privacy can foster trust in the relationship.
  10. Seeking Support: Both partners may benefit from seeking support from friends, family, or support groups where they can connect with others who have experienced similar situations.
  11. Seek professional help if needed: If challenges arise in your relationship related to cross dressing, consider seeking the guidance of a relationship counsellor or therapist. They can provide support, offer strategies for healthy communication, and help navigate any difficulties that may arise.

Remember, every relationship is unique, and what works for one couple may not work for another. It’s important to prioritize open-mindedness, communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to embrace each other’s differences as you navigate crossdressing in a relationship together.

We’d love to hear about your experiences in broaching the subject to a partner- your comments might help others who haven’t yet had the confidence to do it.

What defines femininity?

Is it the clothing? Is it the hair? Is it the DNA?

The reality is that femininity cannot be measured or easily defined. It is completely subjective and has a HUGE spectrum of possibilities from “stereotypical” femininity to more contemporary femininity!

So if you’re wondering how to be more feminine for crossdressing and gender expression, we’re here to break it down for you no matter what style you’re going for!

Initiate the Intimates!

Emma, Crossdresser in lingerie

While “stereotypical” femininity isn’t the only standard, we absolutely encourage it if it’s the style you’re going for whether you’re crossdressing or expressing your identity!

For a femme fatale or sexy look, foundations like lingerie, panties, and bras are the way to go. These staples not only help to display classic femininity, but they also help you feel powerful when you’re wearing them, either discreetly or as a main ensemble!

Panties and lingerie are also super versatile for many types of styles since they can be worn as undergarments or on their own. They can be shopped for either in-person in undergarment retailers, or they can be purchased online in plain packaging depending on your comfort level.

(Model Emma looking fab wearing our black power mesh suspender belt with pink lace panels) and black Nylon stockings.)

For universal inclusiveness, Tiffany Hart ships all intimate products with care and we also offer anonymous comment sections for maximum privacy!

Dress to Express

Depending on your style, figuring out how to be more feminine for crossdressing and gender expression can either include a trip to your local outlets or an online hunt for the perfect maxi dress.

The classic feminine styles are dresses and skirts, but garments that have previously been marketed for men, such as pants or rugged jackets, can be repurposed to blend together gender norms into a unique style!

Any clothing piece can be a part of a feminine look if it’s tailored to your vision, especially with the aid of silhouette modifications. These modifications can help in adding femininity to a bodycon dress, plain collared shirt, or even a form-fitting suit.

If you know of any of this year’s latest fashion trends or want to share some of your favourite dressing tips, feel free to drop us a line as the cool kids say!

Shine With Shoes

Heels are probably the first thing people think of when they think about “feminine shoes”, but the possibilities are endless!

A sporty look can be completed with sneakers, a casual look can use a pair of flats, and a sandy day at the beach would be impossible without sandals. Light colours, such as pinks or pastels, are marketed as feminine, but individual comfort levels and styles determine what shoes to wear with your look.

So there’s absolutely no pressure to wear heels if they cause walking difficulty or discomfort! We also promise Michelle Visage won’t read you for wearing flats either!

Shopping for shoes as a crossdresser or someone AMAB can be challenging, especially when trying to find the perfect style and size fit. In-store shopping is ideal for any type of shoe, but online shopping is also 100% possible through size charts, exchanges, and shoe inserts!

Wigs and Waxing

When thinking about how to be more feminine for crossdressing and gender expression, you may be wondering if you have to shave!

This is completely up to the individual, and while it’s considered more “feminine” by society to be shaved and plucked from head to toe, it is NOT necessary. Crossdressers (and women!) can definitely still be feminine with a beard or with body hair!

Long hair or hair accessorizing is also a common symbol of femininity, and this can be achieved by either growing out your hair or wearing a wig. While there are certainly tons of wig varieties, a synthetic wig is often the most affordable, styleable, and versatile type. They are also readily available online, with some even made by crossdressers!

We also encourage any hair styling or stylist suggestions in our comments section, or any tips for how to keep hair feminine instead of flat!

Accessories and Add-Ons

Last, but certainly not least, is accessories!

The feminine staples are perfume, jewellery, makeup, purses, or possibly Evening Gloves for the full Audrey Hepburn fantasy. BUT, they are not requirements for a feminine look! You can absolutely rock dessert smelling perfume without earrings if it fits your style!

Cosmetics are also never a requirement for crossdressing, but they are helpful in bringing out more soft features by contouring jawlines, rounding out foreheads, and feminizing a face in addition to jewellery.

Finding a foundation colour is also deceivingly simple since it’s generally the colour you would like your face to be instead of a perfect tone match.

For beginners, we recommend watching makeup tutorials by people with similar face shapes as yours or reading our comments section for any tips left from our community!

What’s in Your Wardrobe?

There’s no right or wrong way to learn how to be more feminine for cross dressing and gender expression. As long as you’re comfortable and feel true to yourself, your dress and style are valid!

Whether it’s serving butch realness or feminine eleganza, Tiffany Hart is here to support our community with clothing and comments! We welcome everyone to share their voice and identity through our comments section to spread awareness and pride in gender expression and crossdressing.

Add an item to your cart or leave a comment today to grow our community!

Can I look feminine without heavy makeup?

Yes, brows, tinted balm, and even skin tone go a long way. Add soft lighting and a simple hair frame.

How do I soften my walk and posture?

Lengthen spine, relax shoulders, shorter steps heel-to-toe, slight hip sway but not exaggerated.

What’s the safest way to shape my waist?

Start with a soft cincher; tighten gradually and never to pain. Avoid long sessions at first.

Do stockings or a girdle help with padding?

Yes, stockings smooth edges; a firm girdle keeps pads stable for a natural line.

Telling parents you crossdress is a big step. This ‘How to tell your parents you crossdress’ guide helps you plan a calm, safe conversation: choose the right moment, prepare what you’ll say, set boundaries, and share why dressing matters to you. You can go slowly, answer questions, and take breaks, your pace, your safety.

Safety first: If you live with your parents or rely on them, plan for privacy and support. If you don’t feel safe, delay the talk, choose a trusted adult to be present, or start with a note/message instead.

How To Tell Your Parents You Crossdress

For many, telling their mum and dad that they’re secretly crossdressing can be a difficult subject. You may already feel certain that the people closest to you will respond positively and show their support, but often that doesn’t make it any less easy to approach. But the fact is, being a crossdresser is a huge part of your life, and for many, dressing and feeling like a girl is who they are. Is this something you want to keep a secret forever? Probably not.

Thankfully, being a crossdresser these days is far less taboo than it once was and far more widely accepted. Clothing is becoming more gender-fluid and increasingly being seen as simply a form of expression. Even schools are now starting to allow boys to wear skirts under a new gender-neutral uniform policy.

If you’re wondering what’s the best way to tell your parents that you like to dress as a woman, then hopefully our tips and advice will help you make the leap.

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals (confidence first)

Although this doesn’t directly correlate with telling your mum and dad that you’re a crossdresser, feeling like you’re not the only person in the world who likes to wear female clothing can do wonders for your confidence. Thankfully, the invention of the internet means a group of crossdressers is only ever a few clicks away. You can find valuable info you can point your parents to, community and support over at Crossdressed UK.

How to tell your parents you crossdress – calm step-by-step conversation guide

To connect with other crossdressers, I prefer to use Instagram. There are countless profiles from individuals just like you who express an interest in crossdressing.

Try searching the hashtag #crossdresser, this currently produces 1.8 million results. Or search the hashtag #transgender which will give you 11.5 million posts to scroll through. These are accounts from real people who can follow, message, and connect with.

If Instagram is not your thing, then another platform I like to use is Reddit, particularly the subreddit r/crossdressing. This subreddit has 195 thousand members who you can ask questions and participate in discussions with.

Realizing how popular crossdressing is and knowing that there’s already such an enormous support bubble around you may give you the boost of confidence you need to make the first step towards telling your parents.

From my experience, many of the crossdressers on IG and Reddit are open to becoming your friend and having a little discussion with you. Most of them have been where you are today or are currently where you are now, and many will be happy to get to know you and have a conversation with you about it.

Test The Water (what do they think?)

Putting the feelers out and finding out what your parents think about crossdressing is step number one. By all means, you can simply ask them what their thoughts are about it but this may seem a little too bold or obvious, so maybe you could try a different tactic.

For example, you could pick a subject your parents are familiar with and talk about somebody in that field that is a crossdresser or has transitioned to a woman. Let’s say the topic is boxing, you could spark up a conversation about English boxing manager Frank Maloney and how he transitioned into Kellie Maloney, get their thoughts on the topic.

come out as a crossdresser to parents

Another example could be the next time you’re watching TV and an advert for RuPaul’s Drag Race comes on, ask them what they think about men wearing women’s clothes and makeup. Do they respond positively or negatively? This could be the first step in telling them you like to crossdress.

If you do find you don’t get the response you were hoping for, then try to take this with a pinch of salt. Some people, particularly men/dads might just make a joke out of it. That doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t accept you wearing girls’ clothes. Unless they are incredibly bias they will almost always accept how you dress. You are their child after all and your style of clothing shouldn’t change their opinion of you.

Wear Some Gender-Neutral Clothes (gentle exposure)

Next, I advise that you slowly introduce your parents to seeing you wear women’s clothes. I’m not suggesting that you rock up one day kitted out in a skirt and pair of stockings, but maybe some form of clothing that could be described as gender-neutral.

talking to parents about crossdressing

Try wearing a loosely fitted girls t-shirt, or a pair of tight women’s jeans one day and see how they react. It may be that they don’t even notice. Or if they do, even better because you’re giving them their first insight into your crossdressing style.

As time goes on, you can do this more often. Then once you’re more comfortable and confident, you can start to become more elaborate by wearing more girly clothing and adding accessories like jewellery or some subtle makeup.

Talk to mum first (choose a supportive first listener)

By now your parents will have started to notice a change having seen you wearing more feminine clothes, so this is the stage to begin opening up. My advice is that you talk to your mother first. Mums tend to be more sympathetic than dads and having the backing of your mum can give you the feeling of security to tell your dad when you feel ready.

telling family you crossdress

The next time you get some alone time with your mum, ask her to sit down with you and tell her you’ve got something important to talk to her about. The best way is to just come out with it and say something like, “mum, I don’t feel myself wearing boys’ clothes, I know that’s not who I am, I feel a lot more comfortable and confident wearing girls clothes”.

“Thanks for listening, this is important to me. I sometimes wear feminine clothes because it helps me feel more like myself. It isn’t about hurting anyone. I’m happy to answer questions, but I’d like us to go at a gentle pace. If you need time, that’s okay.”

Once it’s out in the open you can discuss your identity with her, explain to her that it’s still you, and give your reasons for wanting to dress in women’s clothing.

If a face-to-face feels too hard, send a message first:
“Hey Mum, there’s something important I want to share. Sometimes I wear feminine clothes because it helps me feel like myself. I’d love to talk when you’re ready. I’m okay to go slowly and answer questions.”

Highlight the reasons for how it makes you feel, the benefits you get from it, how you’re able to express yourself, and how it makes you feel confident in your own body. Then explain why you don’t feel this way in boys’ clothing.

Be specific about what gender you identify with. Would you describe yourself as transgender, gender-neutral, gender fluid, non-binary, a male that likes to feel like a girl, or simply somebody who prefers the look and feel of girls’ clothing? Do you want to dress as a woman all the time or just sometimes? Make sure you explain your gender and identity clearly with your mum so she can better understand you.

Your mum loves you no matter what and all she wants is the best for you, and seeing you happy means more to her than anything else in the world. If that means wearing female clothing then she will have no issues with that whatsoever.

Once she knows your secret you could ask her to take you shopping to get a few new items of clothing. This could even be a great way for you and your mum to bond and enjoy a new hobby together.

Once you’ve got your mum behind you, approaching your dad, sisters, and brothers should feel less stressful. Just repeat to them what you told mum only this time with your mum by your side for support.

Final note (follow-up & next steps)

Once your family knows your secret and you have their support, you should feel a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. You are free now, should you want to, to tell others such as your friends and extended family.

If your friends don’t support you and accept you, then you can feel safe knowing that those who matter most do you have given their full support. And hopefully, by now you’ve made many new cross-dressing and trans friends on social media so you’ll never be without a buddy to reach out to.

Tiffany Hart Lingerie would like to take the time to thank you for reading this article. I know that telling your parents you’re a crossdresser can be one of the hardest things you can do but I hope the tips and advice will help you make the first steps.

Please feel free to leave your comments in the comment section below and I will try to answer you as best I can.

FAQ

Is crossdressing a phase?

It can be for some and permanent for others. Either way, respecting feelings and comfort matters most.

Should I show photos when I tell them?

Only if you feel safe. Sometimes a simple explanation first works best, then photos later.

What if they react badly?

Pause the talk, set boundaries, and try again when emotions are cooler. Seek support from a trusted friend or community.

How do I answer “Why?”

Keep it simple: comfort, expression, and confidence. You don’t need to justify beyond what feels right.

Should I tell both parents together or separately?

If you’re unsure, start with the parent you expect to be most supportive, then invite them to join the next conversation.
